Tastes of T-Mobile Park - The Vogey Hoagie

Big Maple Hot DogLast Mariners season one of my favorite things to happen was the Maple Dog. If you don't remember that or somehow missed it the Maple Dog made an appearance at just a couple of games last year but was one of my absolute favorite ballpark food creations. The Maple Dog was inspired by Big Maple (a.k.a. former Mariners pitcher James Paxton) and is exactly what you think it is - a hot dog served in a maple bar. I was lucky enough to be at one of the games that they had this offering at and I thought it was absolutely delicious! I thought it was the perfect combination of savory and sweet, while a friend of mine thought it was just too much but they still had to try it for themselves since it was such a clever concept.Though not everyone was on-board with the Maple Dog, it was such a cool concept to see a food offering in the ballpark inspired by a player. It definitely sparked a thought in my mind last season of "What other foods can they come up with using inspiration from the players?" Well, here we are a year later and we finally get another player-inspired food option and this food option sounds like it is going to be around for some time instead of making as short of an appearance as the Maple Dog.

On April 25th, the Mariners introduced the Vogey Hoagie in reference to player Daniel Vogelbach. I had heard about this new food option via tweet from @TMobileParkEats, which is a great follow if you tend to go to a lot of Mariners games and want to know about the "Deal of the Day" or you just love ballpark food and want to see what's happening in that realm at T-Mobile Park. I already had plans to go to the game on April 25th and was glad that I didn't eat before going into the ballpark so I could fully enjoy this hoagie on it's first available night. The Vogey Hoagie is a lot of sandwich filled to the brim with smoked prime rib, jalapeno bacon, two types of cheese, avocado crema, chipotle aioli, and cilantro.vogey-hoagie.jpgThe only place to find this sandwich is at Sultan of Sandwich, which is located on the lower level around center field in section 105.Review: I have to say, this is an amazing sandwich overall. It's something that I would chose to eat outside of the ballpark even without a cool name. I'm glad I brought my appetite this night because it's a lot of sandwich, but so delicious that I had to finish it all. There's also a lot of different flavors happening and it takes a second when you have your first bite to think about what's happening but then decide that it's a lot to take in but it's great.  This is definitely a special sandwich, so it won't be my go-to ballpark food because I want it to still feel special and different but it's definitely something not to miss if you're going to the ballpark this season.
