Tastes of T-Mobile Park - Holy Smoke BBQ

From every season I remember stopping by Holy Smoke BBQ at the ballpark it is always one of the best food options. They've always loaded you up with lots of food no matter what you order, it tastes a lot fresher than some of the other options in the ballpark, and it's BBQ so it's a great comfort food to have while enjoying a game.To review Holy Smoke BBQ this year I am going to look at two things from the menu - a classic and a newcomer. The classic has to be the pulled pork sandwich and the newcomer is the mac & cheese with pulled pork.

First off, the classic pulled pork sandwich. This is the one thing I always think of when I think of this food stand at the ballpark and it is usually one of my go-to choices. One thing that I note from year to year is that the bread that the sandwich comes on is always changing. There was one season about three years back now that it had the best bread that actually stayed together and allowed you to eat this sandwich as a sandwich. Ever since then, including this year's rendition, you need to grab a fork to finish off this sandwich and you are still going to make such a mess trying to eat it.Holy Smoke BBQ - Pulled Pork Sandwich.jpgSince this sandwich is the classic from this spot and I have memories of it from years past, I do have to say when I got it this year it wasn't as great as it has been previously. The picture of it above doesn't make it look too great and I have to say it was a bit more underwhelming this time around. I still needed a fork to eat this sandwich but it was in part because the pork and slaw weren't as well balanced throughout the roll to begin with. Though it was a bit underwhelming, I'm still not mad that I got it.
Next, to review the a newcomer to the Holy Smoke BBQ menu - pulled pork mac & cheese. Mac & Cheese is something that is always delicious and when I saw that it was an option here this year plus a version that added pulled pork I knew it was something I had to try.Holy Smoke BBQ - Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese Something that got me excited about this food option right away was the price. At only $8.50 this is a steal for a piece of ballpark food plus it is insanely delicious. My cup of mac & cheese was filled to the brim and had a good helping of pulled pork stacked on top. The cup is the size of what you would get for a bowl of soup from one of those self-serve stations at a deli or grocery store so it's not a ginormous sized serving but enough to fill you up. The cheese was the right amount melt-y and the savory flavors of the BBQ came out and complimented it well. My only disappointment from this is that I didn't give it a try earlier in the season because I probably would have gotten it more.
All in all, both are great options to get from Holy Smoke BBQ but now that the mac & cheese with pulled pork is an option at a great price point and it definitely has become one of my top T-Mobile Park food choices.
