Tastes of T-Mobile Park - Fat's Chicken & Waffles

Are you wondering where to find the best chicken at T-Mobile Park? Well look no further than Fat's Chicken & Waffles!I wanted to break down my review of the chicken tenders and the chicken sandwich from Fat's since they are both classic food options that you can find at pretty much any ballpark in the league and the renditions of these classics from Fat's really are noteworthy options to enjoy at a game and not to be overlooked.

Part One - The Chicken Tenders

Chicken tenders are one of the most classic things to get as a dinner at a game. They're easy to get at any ballpark but when you get them from a place with chicken in its name you have to expect more and boy did these deliver. According to the menu, these aren't your average chicken tenders they are "Buttermilk Fried Chicken Strips". When you get the chicken tenders they don't look as uniform as the generic ones which I took as a good sign. They tasted super fresh and they actually had some spices that you could taste with every bite. They do offer you sauces to dip your chicken into (which not every place does) but it's not something you necessarily need because of the natural flavor that is already in this chicken.

Part Two - The Chicken Sandwich

Sometimes you don't want a burger or chicken tenders but instead you want the best of both of those things and you crave a chicken sandwich. It was one of those type of days for me that I tried the chicken sandwich at Fat's. The chicken sandwich at Fat's is a "Five Spice Chicken Thigh Sandwich". As you can see above, it is a very large and stuffed sandwich that it's hard to get the bun on top to cover the top of the sandwich. But as I have always thought a messy sandwich is almost always a sign of a good sandwich. That thinking proved to be true again with this sandwich. There wasn't enough bread to contain the chicken and all of the other toppings to the sandwich but the chicken was flavored well, the lettuce was crisp, and the spread and other toppings were just right to complement the chicken.

The final takeaway: Fat's has a good chicken sandwich and even better chicken tenders. I can't get myself to go anywhere besides Fat's in the ballpark if I'm craving chicken tenders. They taste that much better and cost the same as the generic ones that you can get at all of the other stands throughout the park. Also every time I have gotten them they have tasted so much fresher and have been so warm (sometimes even so hot that they burn my mouth because I am so excited to eat them right away). The chicken from Fat's is actually flavored and seasoned. The flavoring really stands out when you just have the chicken on its own as chicken tenders versus the sandwich. In the sandwich there are a few other factors going into how you taste the chicken and in a way distracts from how good the chicken is. Additionally, I can't deny that pricing is a factor in the decision that the chicken tenders are better. The chicken tenders cost a few dollars less than the sandwich and the chicken tenders also come with fries while the sandwich does not. You get more food when you order the tenders over the sandwich, but I totally understand that sometimes you crave a sandwich and I would still be happy to chose to get one from Fat's.

Fat's Chicken & Waffles was introduced to the ballpark for the 2019 season. It's located in the 'Pen (where the Jack's BBQ was last season). I'm still meaning to check out the actual Fat's Chicken & Waffles location in the Central District but if you're interested in learning more about them visit here. Also, stay tuned for more reviews from the other offerings at Fat's (I'm talking about you poutine) that I'll have to try and let you know all about later in the season.
